Pack a Lunch- If your going to be in uni all day pack a sandwich and whatever else you want to eat in your bag. Believe me you end up spending a packet on food grabbing Panini's everyday of the week and going for coffees is expensive. I should know the amount of money I've spent so far on cheese toasties mmmhh.
Bring your own Bottle of Water- Again, no-one wants to waste money on buying water, bring a bottle of water from your house and you are saving a couple of £'s each day but staying hydrated.
Travel Discount Cards- Enquire if your bus/train company offer any student discounts or discount cards for travel. Travel is pretty expensive and it pays to see if there's any discounts offered.
Books- Obviously books are a necessity for courses at university, but I've found that my university book shop isn't any cheaper than high-street shops. Look in your university or local library if you only need a book for your course for a short period of time. Amazon and Ebay as well as Ab books are other good discounted online sites.
Student Union Nights- Make the most of your university union and the social events offered, most union nights don't cost much at all to get into like quiz nights/movie nights/ dance nights etc. A cheaper night out and drinks etc. aren't expensive either.
I know these tips are pretty basic but I have found recently that they certainly help you to rain in some of your loan that's used to go wandering and the money you save can go on something you want to spend it on!
